With MOLLIK to clean water and double production capacity
problem
The biggest problem was untreated surface water.
This untreated water regularly led to massive deposits in the cooling systems – both in the heat exchangers and on the surface of the cooling dome.
The consequences were obvious:
- Up to five millimeters of limestone were deposited on the dome's surface – it looked like a lunar landscape.
- Ventilation slats were completely blocked and the air supply was disrupted.
- Every four months, laborious mechanical cleaning with hammer and chisel had to be carried out.
- Every cleaning operation meant additional effort, costs and production risks.
Solution
The introduction of MOLLIK technology brought about a change.
MOLLIK has been in use for six years – and the systems are gradually cleaning themselves.
- Today, deposits on the dome are only minimal traces of dust from the factory, which can be removed every three months with a soft brush – even during ongoing production.
- Cooling towers that were once regularly blocked now remain free of serious deposits for years. Small residues can be easily wiped away by hand.
- The continuous self-cleaning of the pipes has significantly increased the water flow – the basis for increased production output.
Result
The effects are clearly measurable:
- Production capacity has almost doubled – from 20,000–25,000 tons to 45,000 tons per year today.
- Biocide use massively reduced – from around €50,000 to only around €20,000 per year.
- Minimal maintenance effort – instead of heavy mechanical cleaning, gentle brushing is now sufficient.
- Reliability in operation – stable processes without production interruptions.
Customer Quote : "The results were better from the beginning—and they've gotten even better over time. Today, all it takes is a light brushing of the dome every few months. Our production has nearly doubled, and the cost of biocides has dropped massively. It's almost magical and hard to explain—but it works."
Linda Meyer's experience: Finally showering without itching
problem
Linda Meyer has suffered from atopic dermatitis since childhood. Anything minor on her skin could trigger a new flare-up. Shower water, in particular, was a daily stressor for her:
- Hard water dried out her skin
- After showering, the skin often itched and burned for hours
- Scratching made the neurodermatitis worse
- In addition, stubborn limescale deposits formed in the shower, which had to be laboriously removed
For a long time, showering, actually a moment of relaxation, was associated with discomfort and tension for Linda.
Solution
In her search for a gentle and effective solution, Linda came across the Vodaclean shower gel .
She installed it in her shower – and immediately noticed the difference:
- The water felt softer and more pleasant on the skin
- After showering there was no more itching and burning
- Her skin felt soft, fresh and soothed
Result
Since Linda started using the shower hero, her everyday life has changed noticeably:
- Your skin remains relaxed – without itching, without burning
- No limescale battle in the shower – deposits can be easily wiped away with a damp cloth
- Her dog "Balu" also loves the new water – he prefers the water from the shower to the untreated tap water
Quote from Linda: "Since I got the Shower Hero, my skin finally feels soft. No itching, no burning—I can enjoy showering again. And even my dog prefers the shower water to regular tap water."
Legionella prevention in public buildings and residential complexes
problem
Public buildings and residential complexes regularly face the challenge of preventing Legionella and limescale deposits in their water systems. Conventional solutions often rely on aggressive biocides and intensive manual cleaning—a high cost and labor intensity that also poses health and environmental risks.
Solution
With MATpure®, a solution was implemented that effectively prevents both Legionella and limescale deposits – without the massive use of chemicals. The technology protects the health of residents and supports compliance with legal regulations regarding hygiene and safety, while significantly reducing maintenance requirements.
Result
- Significantly fewer chemical interventions – aggressive biocides become largely unnecessary
- Reliable legionella prevention and compliance with all hygiene and safety standards
- Efficient water management with reduced costs and higher operational reliability
- Sustainability and environmental friendliness through minimal use of chemicals
Conclusion
These results demonstrate the transformative impact of MATpure® in a wide range of application areas. Public facilities and residential complexes benefit from cost savings, increased efficiency, and sustainable water management . MATpure® stands for solutions that meet modern requirements – with a clear focus on health, safety, and environmental responsibility .
Schkopau power plant – biocide-free operation
problem
At the Schkopau power plant, the use of biocides in the cooling system was previously indispensable. These chemicals were intended to prevent deposits, but they resulted in high operating costs, increased maintenance effort, and negatively impacted the site's sustainability performance.
Solution
With the use of MATpure® , the need for biocides in the cooling system was completely eliminated. At the same time, the technology improved flocculation and coagulation in the upstream treatment process, optimizing water quality and making operations more efficient overall.
Result
- Completely biocide-free operation of the cooling system
- Optimized system performance and extended maintenance intervals
- Significant cost savings through lower consumption of iron salts
- Sustainable operation thanks to resource-saving water management
Conclusion
The Schkopau power plant impressively demonstrates how MATpure® combines operational reliability, efficiency, and sustainability. The technology enables significant cost reductions while simultaneously making an important contribution to more environmentally friendly power plant processes.
Wendelstein 7-X fusion reactor: Higher cooling capacity for maximum stability
problem
Operating a fusion reactor like the Wendelstein 7-X places extreme demands on cooling. Even the smallest deviations in temperature control can jeopardize plasma stability, cause deposits in the systems, and shorten the service life of sensitive components. At the same time, the strictest safety and sustainability standards must be adhered to.
Solution
The use of MATpure® has significantly increased cooling performance in the complex environment of the Wendelstein 7-X. The system improves temperature control, reduces deposits, and operates with low chemical emissions—a decisive advantage in such a safety-critical environment.
Result
- Plasma stability of over 10 minutes – a new benchmark for reactor operation
-
Less deposits on sensitive components
- Extended service life of critical components
- Reduced use of chemicals without compromising on safety or sustainability
Quote from the project team : "With MATpure®, we have made cooling in the Wendelstein 7-X significantly more efficient. This enabled us to significantly extend plasma stability while simultaneously reducing deposits and chemical use—a major step forward for operational safety and sustainability."
Rostock power plant: Baltic Sea water treatment with MOL catalysts
problem
Until now, the treatment of Baltic Sea water has been associated with high costs and complex processing steps. Despite considerable effort, the water was often not immediately usable at the desired quality. Those responsible therefore asked themselves: Is there a solution that works reliably, simplifies processes, and simultaneously saves costs?
Solution
The partnership with MOL found precisely this solution. By using specially developed MOL catalysts directly at the Baltic Sea water extraction site, the entire process was radically simplified:
- no additional treatment necessary
- stable water quality that meets all requirements
- a reliable collaboration with a partner you can rely on in the long term
Result
The effect is clearly noticeable – in the processes and in the numbers:
- The water quality is so high that further treatment steps are completely unnecessary
- Costs have been reduced by around 80% – today only around 20% of the previous expenditure is incurred
- A clear economic advantage combined with a cooperative partnership that provides security and trust
Customer quote
"Our collaboration with MOL goes back many years, and we've found a partner we can rely on. The catalysts bring the water directly to the required quality – without any further treatment. This gives us a significant economic advantage today because we only have to pay for the catalyst. That's perhaps 20% of what we were doing before."
